We started the first DEX Networking Event, which was planned jointly by Nexthink and Ontrex, full of anticipation.
It was wonderful that so many Nexthink customers and service desk experts took part in the event. The day was characterized by interesting technical and customer discussions and a very sociable atmosphere.
This makes us look forward to a possible repeat next year.
Many thanks to our co-host Nexthink, all the speakers and the numerous experts who shaped the event with their passion for the "zero-ticket mission".

The rhönrad squad of TV Liestal held its club championships again this year. Like last year, the well-attended event was organized by our Ontrex colleague Remo Suter.
The numerous spectators witnessed strong performances from the youngest talents as well as the experienced athletes.
The junior team world champions Meret Stark and Olivia Suter also competed with great commitment and showed off their skills.
It is particularly noteworthy that Olivia Suter not only shone in sporting terms, but also mentored the young athletes and passed on her knowledge - all in the spirit of #OneTeam.

Due to the positive feedback from our employees, we would like to share another specific review of this year's employee event "On the trail of Ontrex", as the planning took us to the crossbow shooters in Bisikon.
We received a very warm welcome and excellent support at AS Bisikon - which also made it a real highlight for our team.
Each employee was allowed to try their hand at a maximum of 6 test shots and then 6 scoring shots. And we quickly realized that although crossbow shooting is anything but easy, it is incredibly fun. From an almost perfect score to the occasional "stray shot", there really was everything.
Our winner: organizer Remo Suter with an impressive 56 out of 60 points. Behind him, it was extremely close - and there were rumors that Remo had perhaps been training beforehand 😉 He could be forgiven for that too, as much fun as crossbow shooting is.
We were impressed by the facility in Bisikon: beautifully situated, rural, but easy to reach from the Zurich East area. A great location that combines tradition, community and sporting ambition.
It was a great experience for us - a real hit in terms of team spirit! Many thanks to Peter and the AS Bisikon team.
Our conclusion: An event at the Bisikon crossbow club is highly recommended for any company that wants to combine fun, tradition and team building.

It was a more than impressive TXOne Networks Partner Summit this week. It showed that with TxOne we have a manufacturer on board that is innovative and passionate about OTSecurity. A lovingly designed supporting program, great presentations and fantastic enhancements that are on the roadmap.
In addition, experts and colleagues who are enthusiastically involved in the partnership and, in Terence Liu, a leader who exemplifies this and inspired us with his powerful keynote.

We started our employee event together under the motto "On the trail of Ontrex". Led by planning duo Remo Suter and Remo Bachmann, the team first hiked to the geographical center of the canton of Zurich. The hike was accompanied by exciting stories from our company history.
A convivial lunch and a special program awaited us at the first stage destination: crossbow shooting 🏹 ! A great experience for us and a real hit in terms of team spirit!
Our hike took us on to Winterthur, a special place in the history of Ontrex.
The day culminated in a convivial dinner, with many moments of laughter during the performance by comedian Dominik Muheim and the traditional speech by our founder & CEO Graziano Gaggioli.
A wonderful day full of fun, sharing and team spirit!

OTSecurity and ITSecurity are two disciplines of cyber security that are increasingly converging in practice. Both areas have the common goal of protecting systems and data from unauthorized access, manipulation and failure. While IT security traditionally covers the protection of office and corporate networks, OT security focuses on industrial plants, machines and control systems.
The increasing networking of IT and OT systems creates a significant correlation. In the past, industrial control systems were mostly isolated, but today they are often connected to IT networks - for example for remote maintenance or for recording and analyzing production data.
This creates new points of attack that can affect both IT and OT systems. The threats are similar: malware, ransomware, targeted attacks and insider threats affect both worlds.
Comparable security measures are used in both areas, such as network segmentation, access controls, monitoring and patch management.
However, the priorities differ: In IT, the focus is usually on confidentiality and integrity as well as data protection, while in OT the focus is on availability and operational security. Despite these differences, close cooperation between IT and OT teams is necessary in order to implement security concepts effectively.
Legal requirements and regulatory specifications such as ISG or NIS2 also do not make a clear distinction between IT and OT security, but require holistic strategies to protect critical infrastructures. This is why companies must now consider and coordinate both areas together.
Protecting modern infrastructures requires a comprehensive understanding of IT and OT risks, as the boundaries between the two are becoming increasingly blurred.

Following our recent webinar, we would like to present to you once again two important focal points of a successful IT security concept.
Based on the threat situation of the current CrowdStrike Threat Report, there are two important focus topics that you can ideally cover with the following CrowdStrike products:
🔐 Falcon Identity Protection
This includes guidelines and processes for creating user accounts. These must be defined, implemented and checked, both in the cloud (Entra ID) and on-premises (AD).
In the area of identity protection, unusual activities can also be detected and blocked. This allows suspicious access to be stopped at an early stage and risks to be significantly reduced. The Falcon Identity Protection module is a great support for visibility, AD hygiene and the prevention of identity-based attacks.
🛡️ Falcon Shield
Even before SaaS applications are used, a concept should be drawn up as to how they can be operated securely. "Secure" here also means that a risk assessment should be carried out with regard to information security and data protection. Misconfigurations or the use of standard configurations for cloud services pose a particularly high risk. The Falcon Shield module provides a complete overview of the security situation of your SaaS applications and shows where there is potential for optimization. This provides great added value for hardening your cloud environment.

A very special Townhall Meeting took place yesterday for the Ontrex team - at the Brügglifeld stadium, the home of FC Aarau.
The impressive historic sports venue with its long history in Swiss football and the stories that go with it gave many employees goosebumps.
In addition to the internal topics of Ontrex AG, a very inspiring presentation by FC Aarau President Markus Mahler was also on the agenda this time.
Of course, the legendary Aarau torch-lit spit was not to be missed at the subsequent joint dinner.
A big thank you to FC Aarau - and especially to Markus Mahler for his great hospitality!
We are sure that there will be one or two new Aarau fans at Ontrex.
Also a big thank you to Remo Bachmann, who as a long-time stadium announcer made the organization of this great event possible.
We wish FC Aarau a good hand with the transfers, a successful 2025/2026 season - and look forward to seeing them again in the Super League for another Ontrex Townhall Meeting.

As active supporters of TV Liestal's rhönrad squad, we are impressed by the great performance of the athletes at the World Team Championships in Leipzig.
Meret Stark and Olivia Suter from TV Liestal won gold for the first time with the Swiss junior national team - a historic success! The two athletes from the canton of Basel-Landschaft made a decisive contribution to securing the gold medal in the junior category together with Israel.
Together with siblings Timon and Elea Peter from Satus Züri 12, they formed a strong, consistent team that fought until the last round and ultimately finished level on points with Israel. Both teams were declared world champions ex aequo - an extraordinary result and a significant moment for Swiss rhönrad sport.
We congratulate the athletes and the rhönrad squad of TV Liestal on this fantastic success - and thank you for making Ontrex feel a little bit like world champions!

Our two heroes, Michael Trepte & Pieter-Jan Kindermans, finished the Cape Epic with a fantastic time of 34h 15min and 27sec.
A terrific performance in which they also raised an outstanding sum of around 10,000 euros for a good cause through donations.

We can look back on a successful SERVICEWARE User Group Meeting 2025 with our customers.
The new AI Process Engine (AIPE) from Serviceware was the focus of this year's meeting. Impressive presentations and live demos showed the new philosophy and the potential of the AIPE for the future.
At the same time, our customers were able to present many added values of the Serviceware platform in inspiring customer success stories and share these with other companies. License recovery - sounds boring, maybe even petty?
On the contrary! Ignored or barely used software licenses can quickly become a burden on the budget. Want an example?
Each Microsoft Visio license costs up to 950$ per year, an Adobe InDesign license costs 360$ per year depending on the tariff. For companies with 10,000 employees or more, it is to be expected that some of these expensive purchased licenses will not be used or needed. Confusion due to staff changes and the passing on of devices is the order of the day. Even 10 unused licenses result in avoidable costs of $13,100. If you scale this to the usually 5+ different licenses and different company sizes, this quickly results in amounts of 50-100k $.
❓ How can companies recover these hidden costs? And how can Nexthink help you specifically?
In addition to many Digital Experience Management (DEX) functionalities, Nexthink offers integrated and easy-to-implement software metering capabilities. Attacks on IT environments today are so diverse that selective pentest analyses are no longer sufficient to cover all possible vulnerability points and attack paths.
Especially in large companies with thousands of employees, there are millions of potential paths, which makes complete protection difficult. Conventional tools generally do not offer a comprehensive solution here.

In order to be well prepared for possible emergencies or crises, it is essential for companies to introduce business continuity management (BCM). This is the only way to ensure that business operations are maintained in the event of an emergency, that further damage is prevented and that normal operations can be resumed as quickly as possible.

Prioritize important business processes and applications:
When creating a Business Impact Analysis (BIA), a company's critical processes and applications are listed. A process map can be very helpful here. The assets (dependencies) that are used for the critical processes must also be taken into account. The critical processes or applications are then evaluated and prioritized according to the following criteria:
Put together an emergency organization:
The company needs (existing) resources for the emergency organization to ensure that these resources are available in the event of an emergency. The people in the emergency team should not all come from the same department. Depending on the size of the company, it is recommended that one person from each department is represented who is familiar with the processes in order to be able to react without coordination difficulties in an emergency.
The emergency organization is usually divided into three levels: the strategic, the tactical and the operational level. The strategic level decides how to proceed, the tactical level leads and coordinates and the operational level reports to the tactical level and implements measures from the emergency plan.
You can think of it like the fire department. Although the firefighters may be employed by different employers, they work together smoothly in an emergency because everyone knows exactly what their tasks are in their area.
Create an emergency manual:
It's all well and good to have everything taken care of in your heads. However, if the deputy has to step in in an emergency, which should also be taken into account, they will certainly be happy if the procedure or the topic itself is documented clearly and consistently. The emergency manual is therefore essential.

Define the alerting path:
The alerting path should be clear for the entire company. Employees should be trained about threats that could endanger the company. If employees notice something that could endanger the company, they are obliged to inform the contact person, usually someone from the IT security or IT team. It is important that employees are aware of the incident alert procedure so that they can react quickly in an emergency.
Carry out regular drills:
Drills should be conducted to ensure that the emergency response team functions in various emergency scenarios. The exercises should focus on critical processes or applications (test environment). In the event that one of these processes fails, the emergency team should be as well prepared as possible. Depending on the size of the company, at least one or two exercises should therefore be carried out each year.
The experience gained from the exercises should contribute significantly to continuous improvement.

To understand artificial intelligence, we first need to know what it is: What is intelligence? I understand intelligence as the ability to think and learn. It is not just about accumulating knowledge. It is also about applying this knowledge and recognizing new connections. 🤔
But what is artificial intelligence (AI)?
The term "artificial intelligence" is often used in an inflationary way, usually referring to weak AI. It sounds good when marketing or sales departments throw the term AI around, as this term is not clearly defined anywhere and they can do so without understanding what exactly AI is. It is important to clearly understand the actual capabilities of today's technology. 🤖
Weak and strong AI
AI experts differentiate between weak and strong AI, but what exactly distinguishes these two types of artificial intelligence?
Weak AI:
Weak AI is designed to perform specific tasks and is based on predefined algorithms and data. It has no general intelligence or awareness. It includes technologies such as:
These are just a few examples. There are many other applications of weak AI that are used in various areas of daily life and industry.
Strong AI: 🧠🔬
Strong AI should have human-like cognitive abilities such as independent thinking, learning and problem solving. This form of AI requires a real awareness and understanding of its actions, which distinguishes it from previous AI systems. Despite intensive research, strong AI remains a theoretical concept and has not yet been realized in practice. As part of my training to become an AI professional at HSO Business School Switzerland, I was able to see how research is being conducted into strong AI at the Institute of Neuroinformatics, University of Zurich and ETH Zurich. It was very exciting and clearly showed that a lot of research is still needed in this area.
The hype around weak AI:
The hype around AI is huge, mainly thanks to clever marketing by sales and marketing departments, as mentioned in the article above. This hype is based on advances in weak AI. Technologies such as GPT-4 - Generative AI can generate impressive texts. Applications in computer vision are used in medical diagnosis and autonomous driving. However, their "intelligence" remains severely limited. Despite these limitations, the applications of weak AI are remarkably versatile, which is why the hype is so great.
My conclusion:
In my opinion, it is crucial to assess the hype surrounding AI realistically. Weak AI can solve many tasks efficiently and has already made remarkable progress in various areas. Nevertheless, it remains a far cry from the vision of strong AI that possesses human-like cognitive abilities.
Weak AI has the potential to improve our world in many ways. However, it is crucial to look at these technologies with a sober and informed perspective and recognize their limitations.🌍🤖
